Neck Injury – How the wrong sleeping position can trigger it

The right pillows save us from neck injury

Neck injuries are usually connected with your posture or with accidents. Sadly, you can also get them when you’re asleep. Have you ever been so sleepy that you just fell on your bed, regardless of what your wearing and what position you’d have on the bed? Then when you wake up in the morning, your neck feels a little stiff—like you’ve twisted it the wrong way or it was held in the wrong position for an extended period of time.

Using too many pillows to cushion your head, causing your pillow to be too elevated could be one of the causes. A pillow that’s too flat, one that doesn’t support your head in the right way, sleeping on your stomach (twisting your neck in the process)—these are just a few of the causes of injuries you can incur when you are unmindful of the way you sleep. This may also be one of the causes of waking up at the wrong side of the bed!

Be conscious and save your neck from injuries

The easiest way to prevent neck injuries from sleeping is to be conscious about how you lie down. Make sure that your neck is not in an awkward position or one that can cause the muscles to tighten in all the wrong ways. Choosing a pillow is also important. Look for one that’s not too flat, not too soft. Remember that they key to a good day ahead is a good sleep. You can only achieve that when you have a pillow that’s just perfect for you. Keep these in mind and you’ll save yourself from a very bad day—and a painful neck injury!
